Double knotting your exercise shoes is good for a number of reasons. You won't have to stop during a workout to re-tie them and you won't risk tripping on a lace. These are both time savers.
The one problem, howeverm is double knots also waste time. If you are in a rush to get to work after a workout, untieing a double knot will waste precious seconds of an already chaotic morning.
So, at the end of my workout, when I am stretching, I untie the double knots. By doing this and loosening the ties I can quickly slip off my shoes and not lose any time!
